    Default Veterans Hunt

I probably put 100 miles on my truck last 3 days looking for the perfect last duck hunt of the season.
This spot was found by hiking up a mountain and staring through a spotting scope. Watched about 50 mallards drop into this spot over the course of an hour. The bonus, they were all in pairs. The super bonus, the drake was in the rear pretty much every time. Our light here sucks usually. Heavy drizzle, light fog and my decoys placed in front of a big stand of Doug Fir in the distance. So, my plan was to shoot the rear bird right up til the time the dog brought back 2 brown ones. I would of waited for better light, but this spot is tidal. I had roughly 2 hours from LST to get my ass out or I’d be dragging a sneak boat. Too old for that shit.
The sprig was the last bird. I can’t resist a decoying sprig.

Put a harness on the dog and make it drag the boat. Damn dogs just sit back and reap the rewards, high time they paid their dues.

    Excellent job, btw.

I have one of those jet sleds I use most the time. Next year, dog will be dragging that.

    Default Veterans Hunt

They don’t carry, put out or pick up decoys, they don’t scout, they don’t shoot all the hell they do is just lick themselves, bring back ducks and ham it up for ALL the pictures. This shit has to stop.

Where’s the Like button. Everyone has a Like button.

Only pic taken of the lazy dog all year with a bird in her mouth today. Just showing the marsh.
    What a sexy marsh.
Spent years researching the best duck hunting spot to retire next to. I found it.

Nice! We got home around 0920. At 1330 I had enough. Kicked her ass to the curb. I needed a nap! She sulked to her memory foam dog bed.
Y’all should try this retirement shit. Shoot ducks, take nap, eat dinner. Go to bed. Repeat.

My dog had both knees done TPLO surgeries. Left knee didn’t heal right. She is incapable of sitting down. She tries, but can’t do it. When she lays down, she struggles to get an angle to lay.
I almost feel sorry for her. But, I needed a nap.
