    Default Need Dog Trainer

I have a friend that is looking for a dog trainer. He has a new black lab pup and would like to get him trained for hunting, not field trails. He would prefer someone that does not use shock collars but is open to what is best.

Tell your buddy not to be set on the shock collar thing. If he gets a good trainer, the shock collar can be a lot nicer than the “no shock collar” approach. You can look back and find a lot of foolish things I said 7-9 years about training dogs. Tha Dick and others tried to set me straight but I didn’t know enough to know what I didn’t know.

The politically correct answer is Rhett at Baycreek, which is one of our sponsors on this site.

The dog world is not that big. In fact I personally know all the names mentioned and are very good friends with the majority (15+ Years).

I’d be glad to help your buddy in anyway possible. Tell him to give me a shout.

That being said, tell him to call Rhett.

Nope, LOVE mine!! Some people hear the horror stories of dogs that have not been properly collar conditioned and think it's the collar's fault. When it's all to blame on the sorry owner or trainer.

I've used shock collars on coondogs for years, when used correctly it's less "abusive" than a slap on the behind

Serious question to the OP and others. Why would someone prefer a dog trained without an E collar? I don't see any dis advantage to using a collar for training. Now if you are dependent on a shock collar in order to half way control your dog, then yes I can see the down side but that also seems like a half way trained dog to begin with.
