    Default Fish Fryer

I've been using a big cast iron Dutch oven over a propane burner, works pretty well but looking for something different . Anybody ever used one of these? Opinions? ovenhttps://www.meatprocessingproducts.com/bayou-700-701.html

I used the same till I bought myself a early Christmas present this year. R&V Cajun fryer, 4 gallon model. Built well, cooks great, and selling point was how the burner works. So far I love it!

Yep. Works great and not much variation in temperature. Haven’t used the cast iron for outdoor frying since I bought one.

The link in the original post won’t work for me. My neighbor does a fish fry about every 2 months or so over at his shop.
He just recently bought one of these and seems to really like it

I'm not sure the model, but my old boss had a commercial grade one that was great. It would automatically regulate the temperature so you didn't have to monitor it. Great for big cooks, but I think it was over $1k

Thanks everyone, I think I'm going with the Bayou Classic 4 gallon model.

I think that's the Chinese version of the American made Cajun fryer. Fuck China and hedge funds! Biden too!
Look at the side by comparison and decide before you buy.

Which one are you calling Chinese and/or which is the American?

That said, how much are you cooking for 4 gallons? Are those things stable?

And how do you go about getting rid of that much grease when it gets old?

It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.

One of these can cook a whole lot of filets real quick and clean up is easy.

Cajun Fryer is made in the U.S.A. Bayou Classic sure makes it hard to find out where their's is made. Would have to call them to confirm....

Alot of the county waste collection centers take waste oil to recycle. Just pour it back in the old jug and dump it in their container.

Yep, per their web site their cast iron is made in China. I'll probably call tomorrow.

That bayou fryer can be a little noisy.

The Cajun is at least 3/16 steel, heavy. It ain't pretty stainless, and if you know BBQ grills, all stainless ain't rust proof. It holds heat well.
My first experience with one was a friend's. The grease was 6 months old and had no funkiness. The crust/particles settle to the bottom by design where the grease doesn't get as hot so it doesn't burn. Has a built in ball valve to drain grease out of, if you wanted to strain it back into jug. Plenty of reviews on both on YouTube.

Cajun can be used on table top or buy stand. Has wheels and can be wheeled around.

I was unintentionally comparing apples to oranges in the price of the two cookers, add the rolling stand to the Bayou Classic, it only comes out to about a $60 difference. Design of the two cookers looks very similar to me so I don't see that as a big difference.
