    Default Trumpet

All the talk on here about trumpets, combined with watching Mr. Farmer sound pure turkey on one, has piqued my interest in learning the craft. Does anyone have a call they'd be willing to part with or can point me in the right direction of a "beginners" call? I am not looking to drop a fistful of green at the moment but would really like to run one this spring to decide if it is something I want to dive into. Thanks for any and all help.

Get a real wingbone or really just make one. Will just about beat any call ever made and not trying to be a poet. They just work.

If the wingbone doesn’t do the job, I have a nice bugle I might make a deal on.

I have several gifted to me that you are welcome to try and use, as long as they are returned.

You will have to meet with the TFC to have your lips measured prior to getting a trumpet call.
It’s similar to the elephant walk some fraternal organizations have prior to initiation, except they dangle a Turkey scrotum and wingbone up to pursed lips to determine if your are even capable of blowing a trumpet, bruh.

The good thing about the trumpet is that you can call 7 1/2 year old Booner gobblers in close enough to kill them with a knife. With the cost of ammo now (especially TSS), it’s a huge bonus. Go ahead and drop a couple grand at Buices shop, you will make up for it in shotshell savings in 4 years.

Some of y'all are just dumb.

It takes a lot of practice and there is certainly a learning curve SCWOODROW. Several on here have been nice enough to help me out. I am still practicing and learning. My confidence isn't there in the woods to put down my faithful mouth calls or favorite pots, but when run correctly I don't think there's a type of call that sounds more like a turkey. It's also amazing to me how the sound just seems to carry differently.

Good luck, you've already gotten some good advice from Britt and a nice offer from Boozer. Join Old Gobbler forum if you aren't on there already. Some good discussion and callmakers on there.
