    Default Tohatsu 60HP

Anyone running or have feedback on a new MFS60 hotsu? Im considering moving to a 4 stroke and this motor is high on my list, only thing Im not crazy about is the location of the trim switch. I know joelt1971, I believe that's his handle, has one and said he was happy with his. I may take him up on his offer to ride in his setup one of these days.

Is this the "new" little 60 with the fast gearcase? I'd be interested to hear some reviews also.

There isn’t much info out there on them. I believe 2020 may be the first year the 60 was made by Tohatsu which is why it is so light. I believe before that Honda made the 60 and badged it Tohatsu, but that motor was heavier and had more cui displacement. All I can find on the gear case is it has 2.08:1 gears in it.

Why you don’t like the location of the trim switch? It’s got a really short throw on the throttle so you can go from idle to WOT without changing your grip.

    25 has 2.17:1 gearing.

Seems like I seen in a picture and the trim switch was located low and behind the throttle making it hard to reach with your thumb while operating the throttle. I may be mistaken though as I haven’t seen one I person.

I think that was to adjust RPMs

I gotcha. That’s already changed on the series the 60 falls in. It’s now in the throttle grip near the end. The grip has been extended to make the trim switch position work.

On the 25 series the trim switch is available only on the white tiller handle for now. It will be available in the dark motors soon.

This is a shitty picture, but you can see where it’s at....

Idle rpm is adjusted by pushing in the key. It’s set at 950 rpm upon startup and each key bump drops it 100 rpm down to 650 minimum.

I have a 2021 25hp with the trim switch location where you saw it. There’s also a switch on the side of the motor for the transom saver hookup. I had them put an a third trim switch on my OS handle. Part of the deal when I bought mine was I get the third trim switch installed AND when the trim switch in the handle tillers come out for the 25 they’re replacing my tiller with the new one no questions asked.

Damn sure is. That’s exactly where I adjust RPMs on my Yamaha.

This is a Tohatsu, not a Yamaha. Just behind the throttle is the trim switch and a piece of plastic which does nothing. It may well be a cover over the location where the idle adjustment USED to be, but now the adjustment for idle rpms is built into the key switch.

I was saying it is where he said it was. Thought that was a weird spot, seemed like all the manufactures already had em on the grip, couldn’t understand why they would put it back there. But I’m glad they got it moved or are going to move it. Nice to adjust it without moving your had pulling up to a dock or the ramp or anything for that matter.
