    Default Dozer Work Costs?

I’m thinking about getting a new food plot put in on a recent clear cut. Want stumps up - mostly pine. Anybody have a rough idea of what a 8 hour day of dozer work should cost? I’m sure there’s a wide range but just looking for a ballpark idea. Thanks

    1000-1500 for 8 hours

Depending on stump size, a dozer may not be the most efficient

Benchmark Consulting in Gray Court has several of the grinding machines that will eat trees, stumps and all. He has a couple that have to be moved by low-boy.
Ken Porter is his name, he’s fair. I can’t remember the hourly rate, but he’s done a ton of work lately.

Not sure if you know William Nickles, but he is in the Donalds area and has done stuff for us like you are mentioning. I’ve also used Kevin Powers before. Both are great, but William I believe has access to the bigger equipment. Bigger equipment tends to lead to lower prices because it takes less time, generally. I’ll send you William’s number and Kevin’s in a PM. FYI the estimates given above are about spot on.

Not sure of your abilities but I would rent a trackhoe for 3 days to a week and do it myself. Assuming, of course, that I had the time. And if you go that route go bigger than you think with the machine and the plot

Got the info to a few good rental places?

We just rented a dozer from TEC Rentals in Orangeburg they were pretty fair. You can probably rent a CAT machine just about anywhere in the state. I prefer to stay with bigger rental companies that have mobile service in case something goes wrong they can come out and fix it in the field.

CAT Rental Store for dozer or trackhoe.

I think a 313 Cat with dozer blade would be a perfect size machine for this. Lightly grade everything once you are done.

You may want to price a skid steer mulcher.

Skid steer rental with a forestry mulcher is going to be more than $1k/day by the time you price delivery, pick-up and taxes. Then you have to factor in time to run it and become proficient with it. Not a quick DIY option.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

You need to look at Trackhoes and not bulldozers.
