I was pounding some hand rivets down at work with a 32oz hammer. I had been swinging ALL day long so I was tired. Last hour of the day I was bringing the hammer back and something got me distracted and when I swung I missed my tool all together. I tried to stop the hammer on the way down and I felt something pop on the outside of the elbow. It swole and I didn’t have full motion on the ext of my arm. Doctor said it was a torn tendon and pain was similar to that of tennis elbow, pain from elbow to half way down the arm. Gave me steroids for awhile and take it easy for a month. I still can’t swing a hammer like I use too and now I have to wear a brace just below the elbow if I’m going to swing for any extended period of time.

If you are self pay- call around and get quotes- a $1500 MRI at the hospital or a specialist office is usually $400-$600 at an imaging lab that does nothing but Xrays and MRIs- it's worth the money to drive if necessary

Truth. Imaging specialists in Mt P is generally $600 or so and has a better MRI than many hospitals. Been there more than I would like to have.

In 2015, I had a bicep tendon rupture, a complete tear just below the elbow. My bicep muscle rolled up my arm, like those old window blinds. Hurt like hell, I saw stars. I had bruising witnin about 30 min. When to the Asheville VA ER. I read on internet on our way, that i could function but without surgery with a probable 30 to 40% loss of strength. I didn't want to be starting my 50's like that. This happenend on a Saturday, had the surgery the next Friday, out patient in surgery by 12pm on way home by 4:30. They did the Endobutton procedure. Looked to me like a drywall screw without the pointy end on it.
In a splint cast for 10 days, a hinged brace for 2 weeks. Recovery sucked, but worth it. Total of 4 months from surgery thru Physical therapy. Doctor said i would probably not be able fully extend my arm, but close. Well started back working out at gym in June of 16. Everything was fine. After that.

Mine was exactly the same, minus the PT. I ended not having not having to do it. Holy shit when that damn nerve block stopped working, I thought I was gonna puke from the pain.

We left for the OBX about 3 hrs after i got home from surgery. Already paid for a weeks stay in Avon. I would rather stay out there then at the house. VA gave me a big bottle of OXY's. Day 1 after, pain was horrible, due to the swelling, oxy's bairly took the edge off the pain. Sleeping sucked. After 3 days of oxy's and not have a poop, and eating like normal. I got scared, stopped the oxy's started to drink away the pain. Didnt really work either but could go #2. Those 10days really sucked.
