    Default Meopta Meostar 3-12 X 56 or Leupold VX-5HD 3-15 X 56

Gonna buy a new scope for SC deer hunting. Pretty much narrowed it down to these two. Thoughts, especially concerning lowlight capability.

I've got the leupold. It's bad ass. That being said my Leica er 5 is more impressive in low light conditions in my opinion

Cant speak for the vx5 yet, but I can say that I would avoid the dichrotech reticle in the Meopta. I like the firedot though.

If using the rifle scope to judge racks- or see holes in the target at the range 15x is better- I use binos

I have good binos to judge the deer but when there is 5 minutes left of legal light, I am in the scope

Meopta with Dichro 100% for me personally. Used it a bunch all over the place. Don't think you could go wrong either way. Would all come down to personal preference.

How do these scopes compare to a Trijicon AccuPoint in low light ?

I have two ER5’s and a Magnus. The Magnus is badass but thin reticle and no illumination is a challenge at dusk.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Between the two. The meopta. Huge Leupold fan but I am not a fan of FFP for hunting. If it was me I’d look at the VX6 in TMOA

As soon as you check out the MeoStar 3-12x56 scope you will know you made the right choice. I am constantly amazed at how great my 3-10x50 is and clarity is second to none. The only hard part will be searching out an on line seller who has it or can get it for you. I may know someone who can help if you have difficulty. Truly the best $ spent on a scope for hunting.

Great deer, how far were your shots that you had to dial in using the CDS?

Furthest I had the dial on 2.5 which give it take 10 yards, one was breaking light with sun opposite of the scope

    Great deer there, dhall.

What rifle is that? I'm considering a change.

I have used Custon Turrets and found their accuracy to be impressive, especially when you enter solid ballistic data, but for hunting, I'll take a BDC optic anyday. I have 4-5 scopes that are dialed in with a companies or Kenton turret, work great. I just think I can get on a target quicker and more accurately using Bullet Drop Compensating reticle. Thoughts?

I've got MK Machining making me custom turrets for my Meostar 2.5-15X56 w/ parallax adjustment. IMO its the best scope Meopta makes. I have in BDC3 reticle.

It is a top of the line scope for sure. Truly in a class by itself in low light situations. I'd love to get one, someday! Have you used Strelok Pro to dial in your BDC3 reticle?
