66 mustang. 289, built, with 4 speed. got it a few weeks before i turned 15 and was burning up the country roads long before i got my permit. No pics though. Its was unprofessionally primered and bondo filled, but would move. We were poor, and stupid. I remember the master cylinder going out on that, and i keep driving it for some weeks, having to put one foot below and one foot above the brake pedal to pump it to be able to brake. i'm amazed i'm alive.

I also flipped a friend's Datsun B210 when i was 10, playing dukes of hazzard on a country road.

I was a car guy when I was a kid but have grown away from it now.

    My first was a '70 Mach 1....

'My' second was an '83 Capri(like a Mustang)- it is in my garage now.

I had the opportunity to drive all kinds of shit to high school. Numerous 70's/80's Peugeot and Renaults and few Model A's.

    Good Times.

Now if it had been 4WD I bet it would have gone through anything it was so light.
My 86 toyota was at least 4 wheel drive, got it in 91 though.. so it was still kinda cool, our high school parking lot had a decent amount of them. Mine had plexiglass back windows, the front two were either out or behind the seat. I had drains put in the floorboard. No ac, no power steering, the heat was never rigged right when they dropped the new engine on. I think I bought it for 3800 back then, dog driver owned it and sunk it, a mechanic pulled an engine out of a celica and dropped it in. I totalled it once, or a guy did who hit me at a dead stop.. I fixed it instead of totalling it, but his insurance company ducked, so I had to piece together everything, even the bed wasn't the right year. It was from the early 80s. I loved that truck. I sold it to a friend, the last time I saw it the poor thing was sitting on blocks on the side of Spring street in Charleston.. back when that wasn't a nice place to be.

My dad let me drive his '76 Baby blue Dodge D100. Slant 6 225, shifter moved to the floor instead of on the column 2wd. About 2 months later I bought a 1984 Dodge Ramcharger 2wd with a 360 and dual exhaust. That was the best sounding truck ever. I remember it being fast, but it probably wasn't...

I believe I did beat that. Escorts and K cars were popular 1st car purchases where I grew up, which was poor.

Grew up with gearheads for parents. Don't know what they were thinking. My first car was a '70 'Cuda. 440ci Rat / 4 speed with a Hurst pistol grip shifter/ 2 750cfm Holley doublepumpers on an Edelbrock high rise/ narrowed Dana rear. It was dynoed at 700HP plus. At a dead stop you could rev it to 3000RPM , dump the clutch and it would lift the front end off the ground.

One of my best friends Dad from HS owned a speed shop. Lots of cool cars in the parking lot at my high school.

Sold it for a shitty K10 Blazer that I regret buying to this day.

My first car was a 1977 cbevy camaro ralleye sport. Had a set of house speakers in the backseat running off of an old tape deck. Holes all in the exhaust, loud ad hell but couldn't spin a tire in the rain for shit. Was riding in a shady part of town, saw a few homies on the porch of their house, decided to throw it in neutral and Rev it up. Missed neutral and threw it in reverse, oops. Homies started walking towards us, luckily it started back up and we got the hell out of there. Bought it for $400 that my granddad left me, I worked all summer with him doing construction to pay it off but I was the only 14 year old of my group of friends with a car. Sadly I don't have any pics of her,, she only resides in my memories.. 2nd was a 1987 Mitsubishi mighty max slammed on the ground with a proper stereo in it. I was riding high in that truck, not a care in the world and sweating my ass off with no a/c. Ain't she a beaut?20200414_222808.jpg
