    Default New Squirrel Gun

Nothing fancy, blued steel and wood stock, the way I think a rifle should look.
Ruger American Rimfire, was able to get it at dealer cost.

I was worried about the protruding mag release lever but i put this extended version on and it requires a more intentional action to drop the magazine plus I like the looks of it

Turning the trigger all the way down and putting a scope on it this evening and I’ll kill squirrels with it this weekend

I need that release lever extension. Picked up the threaded barrel model around Christmas. Got a link?

Cool rifle DC. .17 or .22? Oh I got this from Saturday. They were thicker than cold grits. 0B75BE57-57C3-425A-B7D1-BD8353D2FE3B.jpeg

    .22lr,

    I’ve never been a .17 fan, love a 22magnum though.

    That a Ruger 96?

I love mine. It's got a threaded barrel and a decent Leupold on it. I do need to upgrade the magazine release. I like that type (most times). I've got one on my factory TacSol rifle and have gotten used to it.

Enjoy the rifle! Knock 'em dead. My kid whacks about a squirrel a day with mine; damn critters love a log home.

    Nice rifle DC.

I have a couple dedicated squirrel / catwhappers.

    Tricked out 10/22 and a scoped BLR-22

I used to put in some miles on the bushytails. May just make a run at them at the river in a few weeks.

Careful. I don’t think we’re supposed to talk about shooting ditch tigers on here anymore.

It is I think. It’s my cousins. I carried a compact ruger .17 American rim fire.

Is that a wood stock? I thought the Americans all had synthetic.

    Edit....7 wood versions.

Carried a 10/22 carbine version for years, I still have it and use it. My initials were carved in the stock with a pocketknife, it’ll never leave my possession. Shot a Henry for about 3yrs, I have one in LR and WMR, they are good guns. I just kind of figured it was time to add a bolt gun into the rotation

I never thought it was that hard to drop the rotary magazines. What does the extension actually do?

I would guess you could probably change the mag well to whatever you want.

The extension is just a tab that is not flush with the stock of the rifle.

May be easier to release mag but in previous responses the concern is accidentally/unknowingly knocking it on something in transport and losing the mag.
