Default Dog Proof Coon Trap Help

I took the kids down to the hunt club and started trapping last week. Mainly for coons around our deer feeders so we can help the turkeys and quail.

We put out 8 dog proof traps. 3 duke brand traps and 5 Z-traps with the push / pull triggers.

We also put out 2 live cage traps for coons and then 2 beaver traps by the pond.

In the 2 live traps we have caught 1 coon, 2 possums, and a skunk.
The 2 beaver traps caught a beaver and an otter.

The 8 DP traps only have 1 coon so far.

What am I missing or doing wrong?
I have watched lots of YouTube videos on bait, location etc.

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

What are you using for bait in the dp’s? If it’s not honeybun then here’s your sign.

i had a similar experience the last week of the year. baited with marshmallows, cat food and grape flavored kool aid. camera showed the coons just eating the corn under the feeder and ignoring the other stuff.

marshmallows with kool-aid powder sprinkled on top is good combo. I'm using just dry cat food right now for simplicity and have caught 3 in 2 days out of 10 DP traps if that makes you feel any better. Might just need to change the location on some of them.

I tried 2 different baits mixing it up every other trap

Bait #1 was all mixed in a jar together and it included mini marshmallows, cat food, kernel corn and pancake syrup.
Bait # 2 was the same as above with a can of sardines added

Yesterday I checked all the traps, moved some, and added honeybun to every trap along with a smear of peanut butter and sprinkled grape Kool-Aid powder around the traps.

    update from todays check:
I rebaited and or added honeybun and peanut butter and some kool-aid powder to all traps yesterday. Had a possum in a dog proof and another trap was tripped and smelled as if is a skunk had been caught temporarily and sprayed in defense. He must have gotten free.

Here is how you slay them. No coon that walks near it will pass it up. Put piece of honeybun under trigger. Fill the dp up all the way with pieces of honey bun. Scatter a few pieces of honey bun around trap. Go back in the morning with your .22. Remember, one has to walk by to catch it. You can’t catch what’s not there but if they are there, they will be waiting for you.

Oh yeah, if you buy a box of those small lil debbie buns, it takes about half of one to fill up the dp and use the other half to sprinkle around. If you buy those big ass gas station buns, you can set 2 traps with one. Just don’t eat them all before you have all your sets baited.

Mini mallows and if wanted some syrup. Scatter a few around and then bait trap.
