    Default KRT question- best 4x4

Kevin- which full size truck has the best 4x4 system in the last decade - best = works great and breaks the least? Spec it out for me. My Fords have been bulletproof except the 4x4- I know manual shifter is much better but not easy to find

You mention floor shifters, more recent trucks (last 5+ years) with floor shifters are still electronic. Atleast Ram and Silverado’s that I’ve experienced

    1/2 ton = Toyota Tundra
3/4 ton = Ram or Ford (solid front axle trucks)
    More fuel = more boost!!

Thanks- I give my truck pure hell- treat it like a sledge hammer at times, blown 2 front transfer cases and had failure to lock in a number of times in the last 200k on my F150 FX4

The 1986 BADASS Ford was the toughest thing I ever had. You could not even make it moan. Heard it got sold again and the man tripled his money. Wish I had never sold it but

Krt screwed this one up. The best 4 x 4 is where you have to get out lock the hubs and pull a lever back in the truck!

Loved my old '79 Jeep Wagoneer. Three step process to get her in 4wd, including locking the hubs, but when she was locked in, I could tear it up. Wish we had never sold it.

I’ll bet KRT was just a little sperm when real 4 x 4 trucks were the norm. His punk ass is too young to remember what a real truck was.

Insane. I really miss getting out of my truck in the rain and trying to find something I could pry my hubs into the locked position

If the Tacoma had a 4x4 shifter in the floor I'd buy one today. That push button or knob crap bothers me more than it should.
