Default Toyota killing the LandCruiser in US

In a market that seems like it can't get enough trucks and SUVs, the Toyota Land Cruiser has failed to break 4,000 units a year in the United States since 2006. Perhaps Toyota's lack of marketing for its single longest-running nameplate is to blame, but either way, the numbers are less than impressive. As a result, it's claimed by Eric Sarjeant, General Manager of Ed Martin Toyota in Indianapolis, that the 200-Series Land Cruiser will soon be pulled from the States. The news was posted on the IH8Mud Forums, a popular spot for Land Cruiser owners.

If the reports from this dealer are true, then it will mean the end of Toyota's longest-running nameplate in the United States, at least for the moment. And the dealer isn't the only person to give credence to this news. Similar speculation has been heard in the past by MotorTrend's Jonny Lieberman.

They don’t sell many because they are $100k. Nothing to do with lack of marketing.

Yup. People paying $100k for a SUV don’t want a Toyota. They want a luxury vehicles name.

It's one of the things I like about a Tundra. I don't feel the need to upgrade every year or so if I cared that much about a truck. They discontinued my color anyways so I'll be in that thing for years to come.

My wife wanted a new landcruiser a year or two back.. there are plenty around town, and I was like what the hell, let's go look at them. We keep our vehicles for a while anyways. I saw the sticker and openly laughed. I had no clue. It wasn't about not affording it, it was the point.

Can’t speak for the newer models, but my wife’s 2005 has been awesome, is an absolute tank, and I’m keeping it when we get her a new car.

Funny, my 2013 has the same tech as my 2020 F350 loaded Lariat with a few more options.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

My 2018 f150 averages around 16, but like KRT has said many times, “anybody that tells you they buy an SUV or truck for MPG is either an idiot or a liar “
