My pick would be the Humminbird Helix 7 in whichever version you like. I have two of the Gen3 MEGA SI units and one of the Gen2 SI units. They have all been flawless through saltwater and freshwater use on the kayaks and the Gen2 even was submerged for a good 15min thanks to a young lady turning the kayak over at my wife’s Women’s Fishing Federation event up on Lake Tanneycomo in Missouri two years ago. Still works fine to this day!
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL

Lowrance hook2. Put it on the boat and go fish, very user friendly.

I have a 5" on my 1542 and it has put alot of fish in the boat, but i also fish with a 7" a lot on a friends 16' boat and like it better. Personal preference.

    7 inch screen.

    Lowrance TI2 at Academy.....$599.

If that's too much then drop down to a hook.....but do your homework with Hook. You need one with an SD card slot capable of using map cards and updates.

Also, there should be some deals on the Ti models since they are being discontinued.

The new model is the Elite FS.

I've been impressed with the Hook Reveal for the price recently. 5" screen with maps and transducer for $349.
