That dang knuckleball was a blast too watch.

Met him at the ballpark many times. Genuinely nice man. He would sign autographs until the last person walked away smiling with their hat, shirt , ball or whatever signed.. He was a real fixture at CoolRay field and has a restaurant there. Always smiling and interacting with fans.

Won his 300th game at the age of 46. 121 wins after the age of 40. Roberto Clemente award in 1980. Pitched a no hitter in 1973.

He is a local hero. We will miss him around these parts.

Read a little write up today that said he didn't throw a knuckleball on that 300th till the last pitch. That's savage.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

He was an incredible guy. Funny to watch the current crop of pitchers. Most go 3- 4 innings and tap out. The old school guys practically had to be dragged off the mound.

Yup. Complete games are rare now. They used to commom place. Them old timers knew how to do it and there were less arm injuries then, to boot.
