What y'all using for bait or is that a secret?
“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

Peanut butter and a small piece of walnut way in the back.

What you see above is a classic example of the I-Shaped Ambush. It’s hell on a side eater.

I honestly can’t remember on the bait. Power river maybe. Or something like that. New to me this year. Lures are yodel dog, voodoo, canine force, and violator 7.

I think just about anything you buy off Minnesota or Hoosier trapper supply will be fine.

My 4yo is laying on the floor with his hand under a pillow rolling back and forth. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was stuck in a trap

But a deer was going to come save him.

I’m so sick of this rain....I don’t like having to mud sling to check traps. Every time we get 4 or 5 days without rain and the ground is finally starting to air out we get another day or three of rain. Dirt holes fill up wit water. Sifted dirt turns to mud, lure and urine gets washed away. If we every get any more dry weather I can’t wait to put my traps back out.

I caught me a double the other day too. I’ve been waiting to catch one that would bark at me. The female of the double I caught was real talkative....barking, howling, etc. got some cool pics but I haven’t been able to post pics in a few years since a ducks did an upgrade.

Leroy...is that 2 males? The males I have been catching have been darker than the females.

That’s a male and female mating pair, the Male is the closest. I’ve found all the males this year I’ve caught to be very aggressive. Weird how some of them have different temperaments than others. This one I caught the other morning may be the meanest I’ve dealt with, he’s was rather large also.

I have neat picture of a mean ass male I caught last week. He was quit pissed off due to being caught by both front paws....(I set 2 traps per set...that has upped my catches). He is snarling and looks like the devil himself!

2 traps on one hole/set? Interesting.

Yes. I’ve been getting a lot of coyotes come up to about 2 foot of the whole and walk back and forth. Very few come in to step in the trap 9 inches away from hole. That trap 2&1/2 to 3 foot back gets em!
