    Default Minn Kota shaft replacement

80lb Terrova ST I pilot. Anyone replaced a shaft? How hard was it? Hit a oyster bed the other day and now have cracks running up both side of the shaft

What do you mean? That motor came with my boat but didn't work. I replaced it and it's been sitting in my barn ever since. Don't know if the shaft would fit or not.

If you purchased it new it should have a life time warranty on the shaft.

I had one replaced in Lexington by The Crappie Hole.

I made an appointment, drove up there, and 45 minutes later I was driving back to Florence. He had to unconnect and reconnect alot of wiring. I quickly realized it was something I couldn't do.

I have replaced one before, ordered the replacement direct from Minn Kota. Shaft screws into the motor bullet and the hardest part is removing the old one.

So Minn Kota built the shaft and center of lower unit as one piece on that motor and no one wants mess with taking the guts out and moving to a new shaft, instead they all want to sell you a $432 shaft and lower unit replacement. So much for a lifetime shaft warranty....

Sounds like you're getting the shaft. Well, not really.

I replace the shaft on my ipolot last summer. Tarpon fishing and a wave set me on the beach. It was pretty damn simple. if you're handy at all give it a go

What did you do? I am going off what Hale Marine in Savannah and Charleston Marine told me which are both MK service centers. I will try the crappie place tomorrow
