Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
You might take out a dozen before they drag you from your home and skull fuck you to death. Marsh Chicken 6/21/2013
I shot some 12 gauge suppressors a couple years ago.
The fist shot was 2/3 normal loudness and the next three were 1/3 normal.
I did not buy one because I figured one shot was enough to flare anything around.
Either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.
Got to weigh the pros and cons here. The only pro I can think of (aside from outlawing) is scaring birds at a distance where they may or may not be effected by normal decibel report. The con is a significant imbalance in the handling characteristics of the gun.
Besides maybe fooling birds into thinking the shooting is farther away, what about the lessened threat to your hearing? Do most of you wear muffs while duck hunting? Most duck hunters I know don't and just accept the gradual hearing loss that doesn't really become noticeable until you're in your sixties. Then it's too late. I'm here to testify that is is extremely annoying. Now I wear electronic plugs when I hunt. I can still hear wings and conversation but the blast is lessened.
As to the suppressor causing the gun to be out of balance, I doubt that would be an issue if it was mounted on an 18" barrel. You'd end up effectively with a 30" barrel that might be a bit muzzle heavy and give the feel of a 32 " barrel.
It does cause significant imbalance. Follow up shots are hell, you'll swing right past the bird trying to catch up etc. That's mounted a 21" barrel. If you shorten them up to 6-8" it helps alot, but as you can imagine not as quiet. The full length is surprisingly quite. Shoot above the treeline in a open field where it can't report off the trees and it sounds like a pellet rifle from 50 yards away.
My choke tube adaptors finally showed up today. Now my barrels are off being threaded so I attached them to these 870s for now.
Top one has a 18” barrel and the bottom is 21”.
SilencerCo claims 16” is as short as you can go when shooting 3” shells. That is what I have cut my 2 1187 barrels down to. Granted this is going to be a big experiment to see if we like duck hunting with them. If it is considered a success, I will chop down some Benelli barrels and will be back in business like normal.

After waiting a couple weeks, I finally got my 1187 barrels back today.
Chopped down to 16", rethreaded and new sight bead.
Time to put them in the timber.

It's a good thing that I don't like the looks of these on a shotgun!! Otherwise I'd have one and it would be very ugly!!!!!!!!
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL
