My buddy that lives in Louisiana has one and she is hell on anything. He uses her to hunt anything from squirrels to wild hogs. She is fearless and will bite and lock on to anything. We use to play a little rough with her when she was a bit younger but not now since she's full grown she takes everything serious and will bring blood in a heartbeat. If I'm not mistaken she only weighs about 20 or so pounds.
The place that we have hunted in Texas that’s all the dogs that they use. The guide is a breeder and good trainer as well. These dogs are in the field probably 300 days a year and it showed. On the ride back into the lodge every night from
Deer hunting we would see coons and that dog would fight and kill a Coon on its own. I can send you his contact information if you want it. He has told me he would ship a dog to me when I’m ready.
They are a working dog and make a jack russel look lethargic. They have an extremely high prey drive and are not to be considered a pet. Many of them do not socialize well with other animals including other dogs. You will have to pay a hefty price for a good, original German bloodline.
"You are Citadel Men, you have no pension for failure, you wear the Ring, you never let a friend down, you will be good fathers, husbands, and leaders in the armed forces and industry, you are strong in heart, body, and mind. You protect such things as Honor and Fidelity. Your virtues matter not only in wealth, but in the richness of family, you are the last of the knights."
- late President Ronald Reagan
Everybody I know that has one says the same thing about it not being a pet.
If jtemp can get you contact with a guy that uses dogs 300 days a year.....do it. I had blackmouth curs from guys in Texas that use their dogs and cull hard. The will inbred in a damn minute, but damn they had good ones.
I looked into them for a blood trailer. A breeder I talked to told me a story about one of his dogs that he was shipping to another breeder in Texas. After he put the bitch on the plane, the receiving breeder called to tell him the dog had gotten out of her sky kennel in flight and broke into other kennels and cages and killed a dog, two ferrets and a litter of rabbits in the cargo hold of the airplane. If you get one, you might consider getting some extra insurance.
They sound hideous
Sounds like my spirit animal.
Their like bearded pitts kinda. Except to small to actually eat a child.
I’ve had some. They aren’t my style but decent little dogs. I paid 800$ for a finished hog dog and a pup. They both turned out. They are little shits in the box and will talk shut to a dog that can rip
Them in half. They are a pain in the ass in my opinion. I traded them for a browning super lite and happy about it.

Hunting buddy drove to Ok to get one . Elsa is nothing but pure pet.
Sounds like someone gave a dachshund a pack of smokes, high heeled jackboots and a switchblade for it's birthday...
