    Default stock refinish

SaltMuck had a WTB post a week or so ago looking for a Rem 700 stock. I replied I had a short action ADL stock and then Phone Man got interested. I was close to selling the 35 year old stock off my first deer rifle but my senses returned and I backed out before a deal was set. Phone Man was very gracious about it and went even further by offering advice on refinishing it. It gave me the help I needed right when I thought I was making a mess of it.
Thank you for the help Sir.

Woodies post about .243s helped me decide I'd made the right choice to reinstate the stock on the rifle. It's not perfect but sure looks good to my eye. Floated the barrel while I was at it, tru oil and a bunch of sanding.

    Well done.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

    Turned out great.

I was just about to ask when I read Simple's post. I've done about 3 shotgun stock/forearm sets with TruOil. The prep is kinda time consuming but it's awesome to see old wood come back to life! I got 2 more older guns I need to refinish.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Since the Rem700 was a success I pulled out the 30 year old Marlin Model 60 and gave it a face lift too. Stock refinish and repainted the aluminum receiver. Almost tempted to confiscate it from my son.
