Default Do you still balance your checkbook

I have always maintained a paper register for my checking accounts, even with the advent of online banking. Do y'all still do that or do you think it's a waste of time? If you don't, what is your method for monitoring your checking account? Just reviewing it for any anomalies?

Yes, I use a school composition book for each year instead of the one sent with checks. I do do some online stuff including making sure my book is correct but a bunch I still puts check in the mail.

The only check we write is our tithes to Church, I know what I spend my money on and I follow on my banking app., if I see an error, I’m on the phone with the bank and getting it straight. Never really had but one issue and they handled it like a dream.

    Still old school here.

But, I use the banking app to help me do it. Much neater than my own handwriting.

Two business accounts I do, and it's still picked through by my Accounting firm pretty regularly. There are a ton of checks written in my form of business.

My own personal account is kept up with solely on line, not a joint account.

I monitor my account online on a daily basis. Got burned in the past with fraud so I'm on it nowadays.

Three ring binder with all of my check books. I don't let the bank tell me how much money I have, or don't have......

I used to but stopped a few months ago. I have tracked all my expenses via Quicken for years and still do that though, so I have a pretty good idea of what's going on.

Yes but electronically. Cash flow analysis each month to ensure we hit our investment and savings goals and to take whatever excess, should there be any, and get it into an investment account ASAP. If it gets left in the checking it gets spent.

I created an excel sheet with vlookups for categories. Balance it and track a few times per month.

Heck no, just login online once a week to make sure no unusual activity. I pay 90% of my bills on a credit card to accumulate the points and then payoff as one bill monthly.

That’s a big no for me. Credit card gets 95% of my spending and other bills are just drafted. I check my credit card bill for suspicious activity, but I sure don’t keep receipts and balance it. Just isn’t a good enough time/benefit thing in my eyes

I don't think I have ever balanced a check book. Never had a joint account either.

Yes. Do you carry cash? Do you still have a phone land line? We do.
