To effect change it will require everyone coming together. We can no longer afford to point fingers at each other and their favorite organization.

Budgeting does not follow needs. It follows the squeaky wheel.

With $29 million I’d buy 1000 acres of river bottom property and start the dikes at the gate

Shit, you could buy Lee County with that.

Yeah, but then you'd be stuck with Lee County.

29 million was the repair cost of all 13 Cat 1's not the annual budget.

That’s the problem- there isn’t anything “WE” can do. It’s all politician-speak for I’m going to help yet I really don’t know how.

29 million? twenty-nine-million-dollars? you are out of your damn mind if you think that it actually costs that much. Hell it only cost 120 mil to build the park ridge hospital. And you wanna tell us that it takes 30 million to plant some corn/rice in a hole with some tiles to hold the water in? What a joke. Hire 3 guys, buy them a truck, an excavator, give em a credit card or business account and tell them to fix all 13 and do maintenance on them year round. pay them 70k a year since they'd be traveling and you want good work. Could be done with less than $5 million guaranteed. Oh, and stop requiring certified seed. 29 million?

    DT,
Can you provide us with the expense numbers from last year for Samworth?

Also if DNR says it would take 29 million to fix all Cat 1,s they should have an itemized list of repairs needed per location and cost estimate for each. At over 2 mil per location, things must have been allowed to deteriorate to the point where “repair” means “replace”.

Every penny that touches anything associated with that place, think contact tracing, is included in that money. Gov’t math is worse than a China math/common core hybrid.

One million spent the right way on lake Marion and Moultrie duck habitat per year would have a giant impact on this state. Let’s get it done.

Last trunk I had built & installed was about 10K to build, another thousand to ship, and around 15K to install.... that number seems a bit high...
