Fished with a friend the other night and even got to catch one myself for the first time in awhile.

I don't often get time to pole and film but this one crept right up to us slowly... You don't always win though.

Certainly not the best video, but here is a fish working it’s way across a flat from the other morning.

This classic pattern has been a winner lately on low water, tied either chart/brown or grizzly/brown. Size 4, lands soft.
It would not sell well at a shop as it is very sparse and not flashy but the fish have been loving it.

Easily casts on lighter weight rods too being unweighted.

Got a new bot and took it for a spin this morning, caught a little over a dozen. On structure and on the flats.

Had a father/son on the boat the last few days, here is a 33” fish caught by 15year old. Needless to say he has the bug now.

Fly is a size 1 clouser/poboy variant I tie and fish on a light intermediate line.

What rod weight would you recommend for saltwater inshore fly fishing? I saw where you mentioned a 7wt. I've done a lot of dry fly fishing in the mountains but have very little experience with fly fishing the salt.

I typically carry 7-9 weights on the boat, each for a specific purpose.

As an all around rod and especially coming from a freshwater background I would recommend a mid flex 8WT with floating line.

Thank you. I do a good bit of inshore but I really want to get serious with flies.

It certainly adds a whole new element and variables to fishing but is incredibly rewarding. If you have any questions or if there is anything I can help with just ask.

How long did that fight last? That is good stuff. Nice picture too.
