    Default New Mathews

    https://www.mathewsinc.com/product/v3-31/

The 2021 Mathews line just released. Wasn’t expecting much this year given the state of Wisconsin being shut down for much of R&D season. There are a few small tweaks. I really like the new cable guard - should free up some room for the bigger limb driven rests. The new atlas bow is a nice addition for the monkey arm crowd. Nothing earth shaking, but that was to be expected.

I shot the V3 31 today. Only real difference you’ll notice over the VXR is the draw cycle is a hair smoother. Not as much preload in the cycle. It is a little more vibe free at the shot than the VXR which I didn’t think was possible.

Earth shaking game changer? No. But it’s a winner and I think Mathews did a good job of only tweaking a wildly successful rig from the year prior. They are overpriced af, but Mathews didn’t raise the MAP price one cent for the 3rd year in a row.

I'm still shooting a 2009 Elite Z28. Fellas asked me the other day for advice on a new bow. Hell it would take me a month of reading to get up to date on all the new stuff.

You need to either trade every year and lose $150 or keep one for 10 years and realize it’ll be a total loss when it’s time to replace. I tell everyone I lease my bows annually.

Having a new bow makes me want to practice that much more. More practice makes better groups. Better groups make shorter blood trails. You get it.

If you find one for that you better take it and run. One downside of this years bow being similar to the new model is the resale is giraffe poon high on the VXR. My dealer offered $800 on trade in.

Somewhere between jay leno and Dave Ramsey. Buy one, keep it until you don’t feel like it will reliably get you to and from an out of state trip with a new bow riding shotgun, then swap.

If you are against buying a new bow, don't go shoot one. The temptation will be severe. Think of your last trip to a topless bar and your plans of frugality and moral propriety before you entered that den of iniquity.

The last two bows I've had were a Mathews Z-max I traded a guy for doing and FHO on his dog and my current one, Hoyt Alphamax 35, that I bought off a guy 10'ish years ago that needed money for $300. Only reason I'm not still shooting the Mathews is I was trying to help him out otherwise there was really no need to get a "new" bow then.

I shot most all the new bows last year.
My Darton 3800 still shoots just as nice.

I’m still shooting an 05 switchback. Got two of them as well as an xt I bought for my wife, who gave up on it after a few years so I changed the cam and started shooting it. All of them picked up used. That said, I’m buying me a brand hammer new VXR in January. Prob unload a switchback and the xt.

VXR adds 10” to your bow kills. Proven fact.
