If I were to go somewhere that wasn't commercialized tour trap, it would be Utila, Honduras. Think they got some pretty good damage from ETA though. Tulum, Mexico would be a close second.

We enjoyed Harbour Island Bahamas as was stated previously. I will say I looked into staying at the same VRBO a year or two ago and it was significantly more expensive then when we first went (6-7 years ago). Oh, and a case of Kalik bottles was over $40. Bring cash and lots of it. There is/was 1 ATM on the whole island and it was usually empty. Again, bring cash and lots of it.

I've stayed at Cat Island, Fernandez Bay several times. Its good for getting away from it all, just your watersports, drinking, eating and relaxing. I dgaf about shopping and touristy stuff when I go on vacation, its about getting away for me.

    this is where we've stayed

For 4k all in you can fish the pacific coast out of Costa Rica. Flight, food, drinks , two days of fishing or snorkeling or both ,lots to do, awesome pools, great beaches, sloths for the chica, volcanoes -safe and the folks appreciate you.

Not exactly sure where he is referencing but I saw 6-7hr flights round trip from Chs to SJO for $400 the other day. Keep in mind they were one of the first countries to completely close borders when all of this started up and only recently reopened. Assuming they don’t close again, Feb would be a good time to go. I am eyeing this myself.

Costa Rica is always a great option. It's my fallback position someday I reckon. My place is in Uvita. Be sure to call ahead. You will need to know the safe word to get through the gate and past the claymores.

I decided on St Martin. With COVID and time restraints it made the most sense.
Any suggestions of what to see or do on the island would be appreciated!
