What do yall have planned for the opener? I'm not fighting the crowds this year,so I'm hitting a local woodie hole.

Picked up access just this week to a 14 acre pond with a large, fairly shallow flat on one end that is wooded and secluded on all sides. Roughly a mile from Lake Greenwood.

I’m going to watch it one morning this week and see what comes in. The owner said it usually holds some wood ducks and a good many geese. We’ll find out

Farm pond woody beat down, MIGHT hunt public mid week.

MS 2nd opener if the weather changes and group going Thanksgiving does any good. Otherwise will stay home and not waste the trip

I drove 10 hours today starting around 2:30am. Getting a few pits pumped, hopefully running across a good buck, and seeing which private property I have has the most birds on it then shooting them a week from today.

I have about 1000 specks and 200 ducks sitting in the only field of mine I’ve driven by ... but it’s hard to get excited when it’s 75°

Weather definitely is disappointing, why we may be calling an audible for our first trip

I thought about not going, but I can’t kill them at home so figured I’d try. Duck hunting 11/21 - 11/25 and then 12/11 - 12/23, not sure what January looks like yet.

    Hopefully the birds show up.

Is it just me or does “opener” sound kinda like yankee talk?

First thought in my mind when I read it as well.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-

I'm gonna go to the busiest boat ramp that I can find, find the oldest group of guys, follow them to their spot, set up within 50 yards of them, and hail call/play on my kazoo all morning long. It's gonna be a great "opener"

I'm going to go out and enjoy it with friends. Not expecting much but expecting to hear all about the lack of ducks and increase in skybusters on here. I'll agree with the others that it's hard to to get excited with the weather forecast. Thought about going back to Arkansas for Thanksgiving but not going to waste the gas.

I'd agree that when people talk about opener's and splits i get that nails on a chalkboard feeling. But yes, hope to be hunting and getting some feathers in my dogs mouth in a not crowded spot
