Sorry fellas nothing to report other than I bet they haven't been outside of the freezer since they arrived at the shop. Unless you chose the expedited service then you might be in luck. They wont come out of the freezer until they are ready to mount and they wont need to come out until about 2 maybe 3 weeks prior to your due date.

Swampy what I can tell you is that you can consider yourself lucky that you have a Silver Teal on your wall. The government of Argentina has tightened the laws on the export of the ducks down there. The only legal birds allowed out now are Chiloe Wigeon, Rosybill, Red Shoveler, Yellow-billed Pintail and White-faced Whistling Ducks. Only 2 each of these 5 species also. NO GEESE are legally allowed to leave the country. Now the other side to this is the permit to export the above mentioned is like $400 bucks and even after you pay that you STILL aren't guaranteed that you will even be able to get your birds back to the US.

THAT sucks. Wonder what the rationale was? I was planning on bringin' out a rosy-bill and a Brazilian teal next year... looks like no teal... and I ain't paying $400 for a damn rosy.

Basically it is the fault of the outfitters. They supposedly weren't paying for the hunters license for all the Americans that were coming down there to hunt. So to get back at the outfitters the Argentine Gov't decided to clamp down on the exports.

Who is Shane Smith? I hunted in Arkansas about 4 years ago with a dude named Shane that did up birds real nice, did a black for Superfly that turned out well. I seen some of his "competiton mounts" and they were breathtaking. Could this be the same fella? I do know he seemed to like to shoot birds and then denounce ownership.. Squatty, where did you find that info about the duck export limitations? I can't find anything about it. We are going back next July, and I want to see how my outfitter is dealing with it.

The Brazilian teal is the one to crave... but I am going whether I can bring one back or not. A bull rosy-bill is a prize, but I am not sure if it's work $400.
