    Default 223 Bolt action?

Looking at buying one to set up for coyotes. Thinking about a Savage Axis model with the adjustable trigger. Anybody got any personal experience with them? Anything else I should consider. Not looking to spend a lot of money on it for just coyotes.

No experience with the Savage but I have a CZ Scout. It has an adjustable trigger and you can push the trigger forward to make it a hair trigger. It is very handy, light, and accurate. Hammer forged barrel. Iron sights are basic but the work very well out to 300. I got a deal on mine but CZs are a but pricey. That said, I’m very happy with it. The comb has a european angle which is perfect for the irons but requires a slightly raised cheek pad (at least for me) to get good alignment with the optic.

If you can find one, I’d look hard at a Mossberg MVP Patrol rifle in .223/5.56. They have great reviews and use STANAG mags, so lots of firepower.

If you run into a used FN TSR in .223, also a great gun.

Tikka Varmint with 1-8 twist. A 77 grain tipped match king is death on a coyote, deer, or pigs.

I think if I was wanting a varmint only rig I would want it in 204 ruger, I think ammo would be easier to find than anything 223 right now also.

22-250 is an amazing cartridge when compared to the other " varmit" rounds. I have killed stuff at some real long distances with mine.

Most of my crew that hunt varmints extensively shoot .223 because the ammo is cheap and (was) easy to find..

    Don't leave out the .243 with a 70grn NBT, it's a bomb.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I've got a couple AR-15s. I have a Ruger MPR that I use currently. I also have a lot of ammo for it. That's primarily the reason I was going to stay with the 223 caliber. I've got a couple 243s and 270s but I only have limited ammo for them and they cost so much more to shoot. I'd like to set up the bolt action so I'd have a second Coyote gun so when my son or daughter go we will both be on a gun.

Can you shoot 5.56 out of a .223 bolt gun?

Can it, being a bolt action, handle the pressure of the 5.56?

There is a dead sexy CZ rifle in 204 at Sportsmans Warehouse in Columbia. It may have come home with me if it hadn't been wrong handed.

Friend bought one after taking a payday loans in this company. He lives in MI. and I now live in Florida. He never asked me about one until after buying.

Well he tried to shoot it off a bench and literally gave up due to the trigger. For the money and effort it would take to replace that trigger, he has now figured he could have bought a "good" rifle.

Gave up on it quickly and is now having trouble getting much in trade on something else.
