Gander- Is there an advantage to shooting a paper shell? Is it a faster load than what is available in a plastic hull? Thanks

Not really from a performance standpoint. I shoot a lot of paper loads for sporting clays. Federal, Fiocchi, Bornaghi, Gamebore, Caledonia all make paper loads and I have shot them pretty extensively. Old timers think the recoil less but its simply not true. I like them for the nostalgia and smell. The smell takes me back to when I first started hunting. We used to shoot quite a few back then.

The only drawback is you gotta keep them dry or they will swell.

I know one of the top Pigeon shooters has his own shells made custom for him. Paper loads with his name on them, along with his mantra.
My say “Squab Smasher” on the hull.

Paper really do smell better than plastic
When in doubt, shoot him again!

Work like it's all up to me, but pray, like it's all up to him!

My buddy was invited to a secret location in Texas for one. He won enough money to get a DT-11, but figured it was beginners luck and never took them up on the offer to go again.

Hell, there is money in just catching pigeons for them, but that is about an aggravating assignment...
