    Default Snoring?

Ok SCDucks brain trust, this should be fun. So the ole lady is getting on me about my snoring. She hasn't pressed me about seeking medical help, but she deserves to sleep at night too, preferably in the same bed as me. Not sure what can even be done aside from some As Seen on TV home remedies or a full blown sleep study, I reckon. I don't even know if snoring would even justify that.

Feel confident I'm not the only man that's dealt with this. Any miracle cures or simple things I'm not considering? I have a little hitch in my shoulder that makes it difficult to sleep on my stomach or side, so I've found I sleep best lying face up. But according to my wife that's the position I seem to snore worst at.

Where to start? Hell for all I know I have a deviated septum or some crap and resolving that should fix the snoring. I don't know what I don't know here. I try to fo fyi sleep breathing thru my nose but I eventually end up switching at some point.

Recommend seeing an ENT doc. Don’t go to a sleep specialist, all those people are doing is selling CPAP machines.

Cut carbs and if you’re like me you’ll stop snoring within 3 days.

    I’m 6’5”. If I put on some weight and hit 235, I snore. If I am under 230, I don’t snore.

If I drink bourbon before bed, I usually snore

If I am on my back, I will snore.

I’m a dentist that has done a good bit of study into sleep apnea and used to help patients with it a good bit. If you have sleep apnea, it is best to get it treated with a CPAP, oral appliance, or lose weight. The only way to know is with a sleep study. I’d talk to your primary care doc about it. Beware of the mouth appliances you can buy online that claim to fix it. It could fix it...or make your apnea worse, or screw up your TMJ joint, or move teeth causing tooth loss.

Skinny people can have sleep apnea too. So losing weight may not help.

You could also try a saline nose spray before you go to bed. Some folks have good results with that.

If you’re gonna get a sleep study, they are going to diagnose you with some level of sleep apnea. It’s good for business. Sleep apnea makes your life insurance rates much higher. So, if you want a sleep study, get whatever amount of life insurance you are going to want before getting said study.

If you seek medical treatment make sure you have life insurance first. Once you get tested for sleep apnea you’re rates will skyrocket.

I used to battle reflux at night, Dr had me put couple bricks under head of bed and not only did that seem to help with reflux but wife said I did not snore as much

Do not snore now at all, CPAP . Sleep like a baby now days, made fun of everyone that used them for years and now I do not go a night without it

I know you're skinny as a turd and have no weight to lose. Your issue is probably a deviated septum from years past or something else. Go see Dr Lovis and let him do a CT. He may recommend you for a sleep study and you may just need a sleep apnea machine or you may need surgery. Let a Dr determine this and not ScDucks

And Alcohol before bed... If you drink every night your going to snore. Susan tells me I definitely snore less if I've had nothing to drink.

I used to snore a lot worse than I do now. A couple of years ago, my wife and I were on a trip to Denver, for a week. Several days into that trip, my wife made the comment that I had not been snoring, at all, while we were out there. So, I figured it was probably because of the dryer air. When we got home, we got a dehumidifier for the bedroom. It has worked really well, for me. I still snore some, when I drink too much bourbon before bed, but it is MUCH improved. May work for you, may not, but it surely worked in my house.
