    Default ESPN to lay off 300

    ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro announced to staffers that roughly 300 people will be laid off as parent company Disney shifts to more direct-to-consumer streaming. The memo follows internal discussions about layoffs related to Covid-19.

    ESPN will also part ways with some on-air talent once contracts expire.

    “As you know, we value transparency in our internal dialogue, and that means in both good and challenging times,” Pitaro wrote in the memo. “After much consideration, I have some difficult organizational decisions to share. We will be reducing our workforce, impacting approximately 300 valued team members, in addition to 200 open positions.

    Problem is they seem to feel they owe as many former athlete’s as they can find talk show gigs

    Too many sports talk shows already and when they decide to mix politics and racial injustice people just tune that out . Athletes are as entitled to their political views as anyone but frankly I do not need anyone’s political views to help me decide what to do

    Hate it for Dr Jerry but I’m sure he will do fine. He hinted a few years ago that he was rumored to go to CBS.. This is prob one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to.

    People watch sports to get away from all the day-to-day stresses/routines of life - not for political opinion. Maybe they will get the message. They talk about the NBA all year long and nobody cares about the NBA. I can’t take it during the season let alone during the off-season. Less political opinion and more sports is much needed!!

    People tuning in to watch people who hate them play a sport for institutions who openly support Marxist ideals on television channels that openly tell you that you are a piece of shit.
