    Default Traitor

This is one of those things you have to see to believe. It was a chilly morning this past Monday, October 26th. Nate Geis, his son, and 5 other waterfowl hunters from Lexington, Kentucky were hunting a cornfield east of Bismarck. After they set up the decoys early Monday morning, they drove their trucks out of the field. When they finished up parking their vehicles, they noticed a doe deer walking up to them slowly. They motioned to the deer to come to them, like you would a dog. To their shock and surprise, the deer came right up to them. They soon realized, they now had a friend for life. Check out this video.

I spoke with Nate Geis late Tuesday night, to get the inside scoop on what happened? To their surprise, after their initial meeting, the deer continued to follow them into the field and stayed with them for over 4 hours. Going from field blind to field blind and showing affection to the hunters from Kentucky. Now that's North Dakota "Nice" right there. At one point the deer tried to climb into one of the blinds with Nate's son, and cuddle. I asked if the deer made hunting waterfowl tough? Did it leave after gun shots? As it turned out, the ducks and geese didn't cooperate and never showed. I get the feeling the guys didn't mind. They got to witness nature up, close and personal, like most people will never see. The deer was even considerate, when it had to use the rest room. It would do its business away from the decoy area, and then come scampering back.

The Kentucky boys wanted to find out more about their new friend, and started asking around Sterling, if anybody else had seen or heard about this deer? As it turns out, this doe was rescued by a family from Sterling after it's Mother had been hit by a car. The woman bottle-fed the deer and she always comes back to their farm. Here's the video and story to that.

What a heart warming story. Here's some more pictures that Nate Geis sent me from their encounter with the girl named "Johnny", lets hope she gets a free pass this deer hunting season. She deserves it!

Bottle fed deer > grass fed deer > acorn fed deer

That would be some good backstrap.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
