Thanks Spur, it was a fun hunt. Pretty small piece of family property so I didn't have my hopes up, would have been happy with a couple does. Also first deer with the 300 blkout I put together last year. And made it into the office for a 10:30 meeting.

Nice buck BET. Tell me about the performance on the deer with the 300BLK. Pass through or DRT?

Pass though, not a huge exit though, bulged up under the skin. I can't remember what brand or weight bullet I was shooting. He was moving towards me pretty fast and I finally whistled at him to get him to stop around 50 yards. Couldn't have been a better broad side target, but he had come so far from left to right I had to switch my rifle to shoot lefty. Squeezed the trigger with the cross hair a little low (zeroed at 100) and right behind the shoulder. I'm no expert but I think it was probably double lung. He walked a short maybe 15 yrd semi circle and slowly laid down maybe 35 yards away from me. I walked back to the truck and gave him 30 minutes. He was dead right there when I went back. I've enjoyed my 300 blkout so far but it doesn't take a special round to kill a broad side deer at 50 yrds.

Understood. We have a guy that is 0-2 with the 300 BLK and 220 grain Sig ammo. We are about to ask him to switch rifles or stop shooting deer.

This spot maxes out at 100 yards, personally I'd be hesitant to shoot it much past that. I'll try and see what I'm shooting when I get back to my truck.

Maybe in your buddies case its the Indian and not the arrow?

    I shot it with hornady 110gr v-max

Edit- again I'm no expert but I'd rather have shot placement than caliber/cartridge

a large part of his problem is his ammo choice.

Correct. Not enough impact velocity/ energy at the distance he is shooting. He's a knotheaded sumbitch. "But, it's cool ,Bo."

Saw 2 eight points today. One chasing a tiny doe all over the field this morning. The one this evening stopped and worked a scrape and then went off with his head down. He went into the woods and he or another one the same size came back out 150-200 yards down the field probably 5 minutes later. I would imagine it was the same one.

Buddy of mine shot a decent 8 this morning, was by itself on a corn pile.

Nothing this AM for me, I heard what I’m pretty sure was a deer slipping through the edge of the clearcut to my right but couldn’t see it. Saw 3 coons and a good sized bobcat this evening. No deer. Hunting a Tripod stand and watching some intersecting road beds and can see about 200yds in 3 different directions. I’d be willing to bet one slipped by while I was looking another direction.

I personally haven’t seen any chasing yet, know many who have.

    Oh, I have no doubt.

I haven’t deer hunted as much this year yet as I typically have in the past. I’ve fished more and have a good bit of side work coming in as well that I don’t want to turn down. I’ve killed a few, just not a big one yet
