    Default Let's talk about surveyors

When they are not too busy stealing your trail cams and portable stands, they are using wooden stakes for corners instead of metal. Is there not at, least, some basic required course of instruction for these people?

    Tater working for you?
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Law dictates in SC that 24" minimum length and ferrous material. The wooden stakes are normally a temporary witness to the corner until termites eat them.

I, too, have been pleased with Tater Inc. and their services provided. It is an NC surveyor who is in my crosshairs today. Probably smeared termite attractant on the wooden stakes he used...

No need for attractant on wood today, it'll rot before the termites can get to it.

Was it used as a corner pin or staking the line?

As JWS stated state standard for corner pins is 24” and at least 1/2” in diameter ferrous object. We only use wood stakes on construction. Everything else is pvc and wire flags for witnessing irons and marking line.

You get what you pay for.....
I can say from experience there are a few excellent surveying companies and then there's the rest. The rest, rank between drunken dog drivers and dike shooters....

When the surveyors quit hanging out at Zorba’s Lounge everyday for lunch the quality of work went straight to hell.

Surveyors that have time to hangout or come out of the woods for lunch certainly aren't worth a durn....change my mind.
