Default Dumb question: where to get bulk salt to cure a hide?

How many pounds will I need for a 8' hide? Is there anything special I need to look for other than just plain table salt?

Guess it depends on what you want from final result but salt alone wont really cure it.

US Foods, "The Chef Store" should have it. Tractor Supply maybe mineral salt would probably do the trick too.

Salt and drain properly and resalt. The amount of salt depends on the size of the gator your harvest.

    Feed salt from a farm supply. $10 or $15 a 40lb bag.

I keep hearing that - can I hang it in the floor mat holders at the local car wash and deflesh it?

I would use Twenty Mule Team Boraxo instead of salt. It's next to the laundry detergent at your grocery store.

Pro tip-Twenty Mule Team Borax is 25% better than Fifteen Mule Team Borax.

I'd be pissed if I owned a car wash and rolled up on someone pressure washing gator flesh all over my nice carwash yard.

I might be too...for about 5 seconds. Be a pretty neat story to tell in the future.
