I just looked it up and a G3 is suppose to work in a G5. But I can not make any of my 3's work in either of the the 3 G5's I have.
The G5's do have orange followers?? I can't tell you what that does different from the 4's or 3's I have.

I just txt my buddy at Glock and he said I was correct. G3's have been shipped with G4 mags for quite a while now. They only ship 4/5 these days.
That would explain why my older G3 will not fit in my G5's.

Gen 3. I have tried a couple of Gen 5s and love the grip, but the ambi slide release has made it hard to get a decent trigger in those IME.

You can see the gen5 mag will not fit in a 19x
They didn’t make the lip come down as far on the 45
And that is the grip angle if you can tell

The 19X is the only one I can think of that has an oddball mag floorplate setup.
The Gen 3 trigger bar geometry is more conducive to a good trigger out of the box than a Gen 4 or Gen 5.
The biggest difference between Gen 3 mags and Gen 4/5 is the mag catch cuts.
