    Default Skiff project

1983 Dixie skiff - Owned this boat a while back and sold it to a buddy to get back into an aluminum boat. He’s had it until now and I bought it back. Boat always rode great in skinny water and in a chop. Will be a great do everything boat from ducks to inshore, catfish lines to shrimping. Be the first boat for my kids to run as they get older. Got a rough idea of where I want to go with it and will figure out the rest along the way.
She had an old 30hp Evinrude on her that will not be going back.... thinking 30 or maybe 40 tiler. 40 would be a lot of fun, but 30 would be smarter choice with kids involved. New lay out, rebuild transom, all new everything..... should be a fun little project

Bet you wish you still had that old hi-tide with the Honda on the back.

Got nothing productive to add other than cool project! I wish I had the balls and know how to take on the projects you have.

I had that boats twin growing up. Transom finally rotted off but I had a lot of fun in it.

Reminds me of the Steven Rinella season 1 Dos Boat.

Transom, floors, and foam filled sides out. Stringer is next to come out and then gonna be some time on a grinder making a mess... Always amazing how much weight wet wood and foam adds to a boat

Place this on microskiff, they would enjoy.

I like it but keep the middle bench out, no blind, cover in burlap and veg and sit/lay in the middle for Low profile. Will be a killer shallow water fishing boat too.

Cut out stringer and it was a rotten mush of marine ply. Had to brace the sides to retain correct shape of the hull prior to removing the last structural piece, the stringer. Plan to beef up transom on rebuild, 3 stringers instead of one, ties stringers into transom for more support, and level the floor. Considering an oversized deck and catwalks down the gunnels, but undecided on those details as of now....
