    Default Wood Stoves and Chimneys

After the marital unit decided where she preferred the wood stove, I need to cut another hole in the house. I’d like to make this one more finished and permanent, and not quite so “rustic”.

Anyone in that business? Prefer to not go through the roof because the hole would cut through two pieces of tin at the seam.

Does it matter if I reduce from 8” to 6”?

    Thanks in advance

Go thru the roof with 2 45* fittings to miss the roof seam if needed.
Going thru the wall brings more issues to the table. Doesn't draft as well.

I put 2 45’s in my pipe to get it moved 9” or so. Zero clearance Lennox stove drafts just fine with it.

Ceiling is not an option. I've already built my mantle and hung the TV. Chimney flue would be in front of both...gotta put it through the wall.

If I were to move stuff (outlet, tv, and recenter the mantle) I'd have to use a couple of 45's to get around a pesky ceiling joist and still hit the seam.

Next the unit will start complaining about dust. You should realize this is a no win situation.

You don’t want any more angles then you have to use preferably it should be a straight line from the stove to the top.
