    Default My wife stuck one

She hunts harder than most folks I know. She has put her work in the last couple years and told herself “I just want to shoot a few does this year and not worry about bucks”. This guy popped out and had a picnic at 15 yards for ten minutes. She got up the nerve and sealed the deal with her bow. I was about to put the kids down when I got the text “I just shot...he was big”. FB70E808-3991-4484-8DE8-E61A27340F35.jpg

Had the same conversation about this very poster with his brother. It's a quandary ain't it? I would be awesome to have a wife who shared your passion, but we also need our quiet (and dang if I want to put the kids down while my wife is stickin a good one!). Congrats to your wife. She's cuter than you, too.

Ha, I hear ya and it is kinda tough having a wife that hunts and fishes as much or more than most folks. What’s nice is that there is zero “guilty” feeling about hunting. I don’t feel bad leaving her with the kids and hunting because she is doing the same the next night. What’s kinda tough is when I take trips. She is not a lodge princess and it’s hard to find a group of women to go on a road trip and hunt. She understands that men need fellowship with other men and has never said no when I said I was going on a trip.

She was excited she got a deer early so she can spend more time fly fishing this fall.

Good for her! Did you get her into hunting or was she raised in it?

She was raised in it. Her dad is Jim Mize. He writes humor for SC wildlife and other publications. When I asked him how he did it he said “I raised her like a kid until she figured out she was a girl.” A lot of truth in that

She didn’t want to be sitting on a couch all day sipping coffee and chit chatting. We got her a bow two months before the trip and she shot every night. That was a couple years ago, but it is nice that “quality time” with my wife means shooting our bows when the kids are sleeping.

That put a smile on my face - something about short, terse hunting texts that just capture the emotions of hunting better than long, drawn-out prose even from the best pens. Good work.

That’s awesome. Congrats to her, and to you.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
