    Default Friend’s key west

Friend of mine texted me pics of his 2014 key west this afternoon. What’s y’all thoughts?

A fish bites 2 times a day, right before I get to the water, and as soon as my boat gets back on the trailer.

Take it to Key West they’ll fix it or give him a new boat. It’s still under warranty if it’s a 2014.

There may be lamination issues but can’t really tell from that picture. What I can tell is a lot of wear in the area.

My bet is it has been worn over time then finally bumped into something like a trailer cross member that finally opened it up.

What he said. Imo there is no way this would covered under warranty as it appears continuous wear occurred to the keel prior to final breach.

I’d also love to see his trailer set up as it appears that is adding to the problem as well.

Yea that looks like neglect and abuse to me. Doubt warranty will cover it.

That looks like 8431 sandbar beers,

The count is for the captain alone.

That suck but looks like a bit of neglect same with the side there. Something rubbing in the same area over and over.

Good news is it’s not a tough fix, especially if he has access to the inside. I don’t see how it would be a warranty claim.

Neglect played a big part. For sure. He’s got insurance. Should he file claim?

Who would y’all get to fix? I’ve done fiberglass work but I’m not touching that.

Despite how it looks it is not that difficult a repair. Depending on how you want it finished you could repair it for $50-$75 if you did the work yourself.

My buddy’s boat and he’s older and his kids use it. I don’t like doing work like that for my friends.
