Doing pretty well, cannot complain.. doesn't do any good anyways. Off season with birds, but I'm playing good golf.. haven't thought about shooting a deer yet.

I may have some Leupold rings that would fit that base, depending on how high you want them.

I got nothing to offer re the rings, sorry. I will say I have a Griffith and Howe 250-3000 circa 1923, killed my first deer with it at 120 yards. DRT on a 119lb doe. Now it sits in my safe. Good luck with it.

I have 99 in 300 savage caliber that I put 4x Weaver scope on it about 35 years ago. I believe I used A Weaver base. Good luck

Leupold rings aren't that expensive and i've never had a problem with one. My gunsmith recommends them

I had a 99 in 308 and it had leupold 1 piece base on it

I have a 50’s era 99 in 300 Savage. Weaver and Leupold are the only two making bases to fit that I’m aware of. You may have to shim the Leupold 1 piece, I did.

My brother used weaver bases. Whatever rings suit your fancy. I could never get comfortable with the Leupold bases, I don't see any advantage of the wind age adjustment in the base. Rather have something solid.

I have the exact same gun and put a scope on it about ten years ago. Leupold VX-3 40mm. I don’t know what brand the bases are but whatever they are I haven’t had any complaints.

CurLee, on a higher power round I’d tend to agree with you on the wind age base, but for the .250 Savage on an old rifle where you aren’t positive the receiver is drilled dead-center to the bore the windage adjustment can save you from having to adjust a scope reticle to its limits.

    So, most Remington 700s??

It's really just a mental thing for me. Less moving parts on a hunting rifle. I have a set on a .25-06 I picked up this summer, I'll run em this fall but replace with Talleys in the spring.

Or a Redfield. They made the same base for the 99s.
