Default Dock Ducks and Live Oak Acorns.

They circled two times and helicoptered right under the live oak. They like em.

I've flushed wood ducks dry feeding under live oaks.

Many times I have been sitting a stand on the edge of the S. fork of the Edisto , hear rustling in the leaves like a flock of turkeys , only to see a straight line of Summer ducks walking headed to an Oak flat.

Heck that's the sort of sign I look for when hunting rivers when swamps ice over. Tracks over sand bar banks, dropping water oaks and miniature scratchings.

A friend was sitting in a deer stand in Fairfield county years ago. Hears the deer coming for a long way rustling the leaves, over the hill they come. A line of tamies. No water around. He knew where they came from, but never did figure out where they were going. Probably looking for the truck and highway that they migrated in on.

We used to have Wood Ducks fly into the woods in the afternoons while deer hunting and walk around eating acorns from little scrub oaks. Of course always after sunset, but very neat to watch nonetheless.

Witnessed woodies landing in shallow water along the edge of a wood line then proceed to walk right up on shore and devour some aykerns.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!
