So now do you just throw them away? LOL. Never could cook one and have it taste like anything other than pluff mud.
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL
They are not very good to eat.
Looks like a fine way to spend a day. I’ve read about hunting rails but have never done it. Hopefully one day.
Brine, fry, brown gravy and grits.
Fun hunt!
That’ll be a waste of rice.
Like snow geese, raccoons, ground hogs, bow fishing gars/carp, and many other things, it's a sustainable huntable resource. Outdoorsmen might as well take advantage of the opportunity it provides. Doesn't matter if he cooks them for the table, for dog food, or buries them in the garden.
- plus the dog looks excited for the retrieves.

Nice. What size motor are you poling with?
Good shoot. I'd imagine they'd make good crab bait, and you wouldn't have to do any cutting to make them fit in the bait cage. That's my go-to when I'm overwhelmed with geese.
I ain’t knocking him for shooting them. I’ve hunted them a few times myself. I just quit shooting them because they were disgusting to cook. Stunk up the kitchen and then weren’t edible when finished. I had soaked mine for a few days and then fried in an iron skillet. Used the brownings to make gravy and put them over wild rice. It looked pretty good but I couldn’t stomach them.
