Looking at this wrangler that has been facelifted with rhino lined inside with all
New leather seats with 140k miles.

    Has the 4.2l in it.

    $7k a good price?

Personally I would hold out for a '91+ with a 4.0. The carbureted 258 is finicky unless you throw a Weber on it.

Check for rust in the frame around the spring hangers.

I would not even consider a square headlight Jeep, but that's just me.

I'd hold out for a 4.0 HO '92 and later (later it wasn't called the HO but was the same engine) with less than 150k if possible.

He told me the carb is finicky if it sits for a few weeks unused, looks all to be original. Most ones I'm seeing in the 90s years are 150k plus miles

I was recently told to stay away from the square headlights. Not sure why, but that’s the word.

Nothing wrong with square headlights but if I wanted to fool with a carburetor I’d get a CJ. But like previous post stated, as far as a YJ goes 92 and up are the best years.

Unless it’s going to be a daily driver I wouldn’t be afraid of a 4-cylinder either

I often wonder why more people dont get jeeps over UTVs. Street legal, hauls more, heating/air. I have an old bare bones CJ5 that I love to use in the woods. Hopefully will get around to fixing it up a bit at some point sooner than later.

    I’ve owned a Jeep (wife’s car), and I own a ranger.

    I’ll stick with the utv.

I would hard pass on that one....it appears to have been wheeled in some capacity.

Also, most importantly....it is the least desirable model of Jeep powered by the least desirable power plant. Basically the worst of the worst, if you will...258 is a solid power plant but needs a significant amount of updating to be reliable. Do a search for "Nutter Bypass 258"....it will need to be done on most any 258 along with a Weber or MC2100 carb upgrade.

ETA: You would be better served spending the same money with a 4.0 powered TJ....better mill, trans, x-case, and axles. Not to mention coil suspension vs leaf springs

Something about those racing seats would make me shy away. May have been ridden hard.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
