Feeders do something 24/7 corn on the ground can't do.......give them a treat that runs out if you don't come within 30-60 minutes.

24/7 corn on the ground is preferred by nocturnal mature deer.

    2th and JJ understand this.

The other benefit is fifty lbs lasting 4 weeks.

I hate feeders. Mine have solar panels but some sit where they can't face the sun. I recently bought a really nice charger and built a daisy chain, spade terminal wiring harness so I can charge up to six batteries at a time. I always keep spare batteries on the ATV. I don't even know what I paid but they were cheap and Amazon dropped them off at my door. When I amortize the cost of batteries, the realization that I'm using them to throw food on the ground makes me less sensitive to the cost. I buy them with my discretionary, off-the-books budget account, the same one I use for ammo, farm chemicals and fertilizer.

I set my feeders to throw 4 seconds per feed, usually only in the afternoon, two hours before sunset. I want to attract them, not feed them. Food in the morning draws turkeys and I hate getting up so early anyway. Sneaking into a feeder stand in the early morning darkness is a great way to spook deer and step on snakes. When I hunt mornings, it isn't food stands, it's paths to bedding areas.

You should do a better job of planning ahead.

You know you can indenture one of your office minions to go to Wally World for you, right?

    it was a great idea....HS

I went to get trash bags at lunch at Kroger. They had 6v for $10.99. the office was nice enough to buy me four.

Crisis averted. Thanks for all the PMs and well wishes.
