    Default Tough youngin

    So Tuesday afternoon i get a phone call at work with my wife a 7 year old daughter both screaming. Seems my daughter got her hand slammed in the door of the truck. Sent them to get it x-rayd and some how no breaks in the 2 fingers that got caught. The first pic is right after it happened. The 2nd pic is 24 hours later. Needless to say the dad in me knew i was going to have to drill a hole in the nail to relieve the pressure. Now i have been a machinist for 16+ years and have worked on literally all kinds of materials including the exotics. Trying to drill a .022” hole thru a finger nail of a pissed off and upset 7 year old that is fighting you and your wife like a cornered hyena is the hardest this i have ever had to drill by far. The bad part is i came home from work today and had to do it again because the “heartbeat in her finger” was just too much. I hope yall never have to do this to a youngin.

    Too late now, but they make these one time use battery powered cautery pens. I have used one a few times to melt right through and was much more pleasant than previous drillings. No pressure as it is burning and as soon as it pops good to go.

    That would work too but having tried both those $12 cautery pens (free to me) are my choice. Stays red hot and no worry of notnhot enough etc. hot metal will melt a nail like butter without the pressure that a drill bit applies.
