    Default Pigweed

Just a little information for you herbacide junkies.

I had two trees taken down in my yard by a tree company. They removed the stump grindings and replaced it with dirt......and a good bit of pigweed sprouted. The other day I sprayed Celsius WG for some Virginia Buttonweed and it killed the crap out of the Pigweed......@ 1 teaspoon per gallon(strong rate).

You might want to experiment with some and see if it's feasible of a larger scale dove/good plot.

    12 -14 inches. Killed approx 10 plants(everyone of them)

I read the Celsius label and it's not listed in the plants controlled section.

Is there any way to kill seeds? Is the only way to combat a seed bank mean letting them sprout, then killing them?

I'm thinking about discing a field every three or four weeks and coming back a week or two later to spray...rinse, lather, repeat for a year or two.

I saw a farmer on Hwy 38 disc a problem field every 3-4 weeks all season. He never planted a crop. The next year there was very little Pigweed when he planted beans.

yeah, we're doing a combo of that, with crop rotation.. no flowers inside of the fence. we're just going to have to extend our fence for larger rotations, keeping it sprayed clear when pigweed starts emerging.. that's work. it's tedious.
