    Default Muscadines

Surprised how early the Muscadines are getting ready this year, always bow hunted over them in late September and early October. Been out to my land cutting roads and checking stands this week and shocked how many are there this year and already ripe. You think this is unusually early? Also, these guys are still hanging around close by and enjoying the tractor supply Mineral block and muscadines. I picked these Muscadine this afternoon in about 10 minutes, The deer keep them clean from their head level down.

Mother in law called today to let me know her muscadine and scuppernongs were ripe and ready for picking. Looks like I’ll have an upset stomach by Sunday

Mine are, too. Between the deer, my neighbors, and this guy, they're getting hammered.

I usually grab a handful on the opening of dove season - A few in the pan add a sweetness to the dove gravy.

We picked over 20lbs a few weeks ago. Wine is fermenting and jelly is made.

Seems our crop is off this year.

Found a few vines over at my sisters house that we’re loaded, right on the edge of the yard. Her and her husband never knew they were there

I wish I had some. Has anyone ever had success transplanting a vine. I've read they usually don't take well once moved.

Might have to find some and give it try. Been reading a little more on it this morning and apparently fresh cuttings will grow their own roots and bloom. Just need to find some local and cut I reckon.

Before greenup next spring fill a 1 gallon pot with soil. Bury a node a couple back from the end of this years growth. Leave it alone, it’ll root. Once it goes dormant cut the runner on the backside from the pot and carry your new vine home and plant it where you want it.

I've got some old planted vines that are in a not-so-great spot due to overhead trees spreading out. Is it possible to transplant old vines if you dig up a big enough root ball? The base of the stems on these are probably 3 or 4 inches in diameter.
