I see two plate carrier descriptions that mention air soft, which seems bizarre, but the armor definitely isn’t. I rather doubt that Safariland intentionally serves that market.

So what brands are you considering?

Having that much stuff on the front of your body armor makes going prone a royal bitch.

The older I get, the less crap I tote unless work or whatever dictates it. And the more I like something easy to get in and out of.

Guys at work like Paraclete stuff, some SKD Tactical.

My work carrier has my radio/speaker mic, Taser, body cam, cuffs, and a tourniquet. I can put two AR mags in it if needed. Everything goes on the belt.

So what lines are you carrying, and what’s your web site. Would be glad to try to support you.

Not the best pic of my kit but I’m very happy with this setup and works very well for me after evolving many iterations.
The plate carrier is a Diamondback minimalist style with open sides which I like for maneuverability and heat mitigation.
You can see three HSGI M4+Pistol Taco’s and an issued radio pouch on the front (Tactical Tailor also makes a good one). CAT tourniquet retainer banded roughly center between mag pouches. Benchmade dagger slipped behind in the molle . On the back panel I have a Camelback and issued tear away IFAK on the back/side (arranged in a way I can still put a ruck/assault pack on comfortable ((eberlestock, mystery ranch, etc))

Battle Belt is the issued Eagle with a single pistol Taco & two single rifle Tacos as primary reloads, MaxPedition dump pouch, small zipped admin pouch. I wear this over my uniform belt which I carry my pistol on using The Wilderness riggers belt with polymer insert.

I would recommend all the above mentioned brands as good starting points.
I would stay away from Condor and any other Chinese nylon.
That gear doesn’t hold up to field use and will end up shredded; worth it to spend a little more for quality US made gear.

What are some good quality but ‘value priced’ Level IV plate brands, models, etc?

Researching plates can take you down so many rabbit holes. And then there are all of the different certifications, “claims” of certification, sizes, shapes, contours, acronyms, terms and so much more.

Start by looking at RMA plates and go from there. Good luck.

I've been down so many 'rabbit holes' the past year or two that I figured it was time to ask the obvious.

Unfortunately, I'm no longer making the big bucks, so cost is an issue. At the same time, the little extras like 'shooter's cut, coated, curved or double-curved, etc, make sense. Lighter weights would be good as I'm no longer in condition to lug an extra 20 lbs around like the good old days.

I noted the Lvl 4 ceramics from Botach that youngun15 has and was a little surprised as I thought past reviews had noted that ceramics tended to be brittle and of marginal use after one or two shots. Of course, I'm not planning on even testing that many, but one never knows in our future world the way the crazies are going.

I'll try to make it through as many of those 100 pages on the AR15 forum thread as I can, but undoubtedly there are 200 opinions to root through.

    Thanks.
