    Default Bahai Grass

Anybody had any experience with it as a duck food?

I've seen geese, dock ducks come from a subdivision a 1/4 mile away to dry feed on it. I also have seen turkeys eat it like candy.

I was just thinking about a field that can only be a 1- 1 1/2 ft deep.

    Any thoughts or experience?

If you tried to grow it, it would probably be the first time in history it ever died.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-

The negs outweigh the positives if there actually was one ....

What do you consider the negatives?

It's highly invasive...chokes out native vegetation and is difficult to get rid of.

And, IMO turkeys aren't eating that shit, none I've ever seen have. They might be foraging on the bugs, but not the grass....

I have witnessed multiple times turkeys turning their heads sideways and stripping all the seeds at once. The seeds pile up on their beak and they gobble them down. I'm sure they feed on the bugs as well.

I realize it's considered an invaisive. It's already established on our dike. It sprouts at the base of the dike now but in 20 years it's never been a problem spreading in the fields. It can stand discing and roundup ready crops.

I may dedicate 4 acres to it. A crop with very little labor would be a plus when the equipment and labor is 50 miles away.

My Pasture raised chickens gobble up the seed heads. I’ve also seen turkeys do what Catdaddy said.

I have an ass load of Bahia grass in some of my fields.

MSM will smoke it if you're getting rid of it.
